It depends on what the question is, Little Miss Cupcake. If you don't want to reveal a trade secret (for example a cupcake or frosting recipe), smile and say it's a trade secret, or maybe list just a couple of ingredients and say you can't reveal any more. If you don't know the answer to a question, ask the reporter if you can follow up later, via email. If it's something having to do with financial information, simply but politely say you don't give out that information. If that didn't answer your question, send me an email and I will try to answer it privately.

This is a great article and very timely for me. I have someone coming to interview me next week. Question for you - how do you recommend responding to a question that you don't want to talk about (at least officially on the record)?

Very informative post. I've found your site via Google and I'm really happy about the information you provide in your posts. Btw your sites layout is really messed up on the Kmelon browser. Would be great if you could fix that. Anyhow keep up the good work!

I have been reading these posts for some time now and love your site. Thanks for always delivering on the info. I want to mention a service which I have begun using to <a target="_new" href="http://www.squidoo.com/internetmarketing-fordummies"build quality backlinks</a> It´s a fantastic service but it is probably ending soon. Believe me, it´s good!

Comment on Do you have a business or a job? Plus: How to handle disgruntled customers by Haven in Paris

We at Haven in Paris wanted to follow up with on this piece.

First, we appreciate the objective representation of the events as they happened. We did our best in what was a difficult situation for all and are grateful that the clients recognized this fact. Since their stay, we have in fact been in discussions with the property owner to replace the greeter & apartment management team with more reliable individuals, as we can neither afford nor will we accept another such situation.

Second, in terms of the work that was going on in the building, we felt we had been clear in our early correspondence about the possibility of renovations & the potential resulting inconvenience. Evidently we must not have been as explicit as we thought and we apologize for that. We will be sure in future to be even more clear when it comes to matters of work that could potentially be disruptive to clients. We were in no way trying to sugarcoat any facts.

It is our goal at Haven in Paris to provide the highest level of customer service and we are fortunate that, more often than not, everything goes smoothly and our guests do not have unpleasant experiences during their stay. It is upsetting to us when something goes wrong, and we will always do our best to rectify any problems that arise, no matter how big or small. We have a wonderful clientele and we would like each of our guests to have the best stay possible.

Great post Jen. We seem to get the most traction and "face time" from our YouTube channel, which is just me in a meeting room with a whiteboard. We've had 250,000 views in around 8 weeks, and we take away the "one sidedness" of the YouTube videos through Twitter.

(For reference here are the links - Jen feel free to remove if you think they don't add to the post)

I couldn't agree more! Good points well said :) We have spent nearly a generation retreating into digital anonymity and now it is time for the cyberverse to start reconnecting - the internet is a tool for us to use so that time, language and distance are no longer obstacles to overcome in order to connect with others of similar mind/interest.
